With the winter solstice we have come to the darkest part of the year. And because our culture has placed so much emphasis on a particular type of family, a particular type of holiday this time of year (Christmas) this time can feel exhausting or grief filled for those whose lives do not match that ideal.
But with this breathwork session we will step into another understanding of solstice and darkness: because almost all good things begin in the dark. Every mammal begins life in the darkness of the womb, birds in the darkness of their eggshell. Seed sprout in the dark protective enfolding of soil. And here, on the darkest day of the year there are new, good things, waiting to take root in us, and in our world.
We will explore the deep rest that this solstice invites us to, and the first hints of the goodness that takes root as we rest. Grow still, breathe, accept winter’s invitation.
