Write a love note,
address it to
yourself, it has been
too long since
you heard
“I love you”
from that place
within
down the well
where your soul
hides, chain smoking
her insecurities
like incense.

Write a love note
and pour into it
all the bits
of longing
collected in your heart
dust bunnies
under the sofa,
stray cat toys,
forgotten, stepped on
neglected. Gather
all that longing.

Write a love note,
address it to
yourself, read it
until you learn
from your own
heart,
how to mean
all those sweet
somethings you don’t
yet believe.
